Radio Control Model Aviation Website of Michael Trager  (Port Jefferson, NY ---->Mooresville, NC August 2005)

I have been into modeling since the early 1980's starting first with building R/C Aircraft. After about 10 years I found an interest in R/C Helicopters and my first one was a Kalt Enforcer 30. I have now been flying RC helicopters for 20 years. I currently fly at the RC Wingers Club Flying Field in Mooresville, NC:

This flying field features a 625+ foot long grass runway out on a farm off  NC-3 near Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.

-Foam fuselage and wings with a 45A ESC powered by a 4-cell 20C 2200mah Li-Po Battery

This model eventually was "planted" up in a tree while flying towards dusk. I luckily was able to retrieve it the following day using a bow and arrow to get it down.  All electronics survived in excellent condition but the foam plane was not worth trying to salvage.  I decided not to purchase another fuselage at the time. The F-4 was nice to fly but wasn't all that exciting especially with the low 4 minutes of flight time between charges (even thought I have 7 packs)...

"2008" Align T-Rex 450 CF Brushless Electric CCPM Heli

Includes the following top quality components:

HV Carbon Fiber Frame Set from Sparrow Products

Kontronik Jazz 40-6-18 ESC w/ switching BEC

Neumotor 1105/3Y/3.2 Brushless Motor w/ 11 Tooth Pinion

Futaba  2.4GHz FASST R608FS Receiver using Multi-mode (and 6-channels)

Futaba GY401 HH Gyro

Zippy Flightmax 2200 mAH 4-cell 20C

Full Align Metal Head (1st Gen) / CF Tailboom/ CF 325mm Blades

Hitec 3x HS-56HB Servos (replaced with new ones on 03/25/2011) with a new HSG-5084mg digital tail servo (Sept. 09)

Now controlled by my Futaba 14mz 2.4 GHz FASST  Transmitter. This T-Rex now flies great for at least 10 - 15 minutes depending on flying style and headspeed. Battery and motor get warm and do not overheat. The spool up on the Jazz is flawless along with its operation!!! No slop with this setup.

Futaba 14MZ with the TM-14 2.4 GHz FASST Module!

Just replaced the touch screen panel along with 4 new stick potentiometers (Hobby Services did this for free)...!!!

My 14mz never worked so well!!!

My Airplane list over the years includes the following:

   Goldberg Falcon 56 Mk 2

   Goldberg Skylark 56 MK2

   Sig Kougar (1990's)

Andrews Trainermaster (1980's)

Sig Kobra (included a "black" HP40)

Great Planes Ultra Sport 40 (late 1980's)

My  "2006" Ultra Sport 40:

Plane is powered by a OS 46SF ABC Engine and a MAC's Pre-tuned Pipe.

Servos are Futaba S9101's  on Aileron and Throttle, S9102 on Elevator and

Rudder. Receiver was initially a Futaba R149DP 9-Channel PCM 1024, which will soon

be converted to a Futaba 2.4GHz FASST R608FS using Multi-mode (April 2009).

Maiden flight was on 3/31/2006 at the beautiful RC Wingers Flying Field located in Mooresville, NC. Model trimmed out fine and flew well during the initial flight. Second flights takeoff was too rich resulting in a flameout. Model hit nose in and suffered minor damage, including wing separation (broken nylon wing bolts), and wing damage. Repair was completed within a day or two and flown again on 4/2/2006 without any mishaps! Went to an OPS glow plug and engine had plenty of power using new Wildcat 10% premium fuel.

Support Equipment

My Old "backup" Transmitter: Futaba 9ZHP w/synthesizer (sold)

Purchased in May of 1993. Replaced the 4 joystick potentiometers in Mar. '04 after noticing some servo jitter. After Hobby Services wanted $258 for the work I decided to do it myself. Most flat ribbon cables were also replaced along with an antenna connector and some antenna support pieces. Used an 256K Ultra-Pac 2 memory card to also re-calibrate my 9Z. Everything is now perfect!
